Sub Division & Blocks

Kurukshetra District was created in the year 1973, with district headquarter at Thanesar town vide Government Notification No. 454-E (iv) – 73/2212 Dated the 23rd January 1973, comprising the tehsils of Gulha, Kaithal and Thanesar.
In 1979, a new tehsil Pehowa was created.

District has four Sub Divisions.

Thanesar

Sub-division Thanesar has 120 revenue villages with 31 Patwar Circles and 3 Kanungo Circles. The total area of Thenesar sub-division is 48495 hect. in which 40833 hect. is cultivable and 7662 hect. is Non-cultivable and 1917 hect. is forest area.

Shahabad

Sub-division Shahabad has 90 revenue villages with 18 Patwar Circles and 1 Kanungo Circles. The total area of Shahabad sub-division is 28297 hect. in which 24689 hect. is cultivable and 3608 hect. is Non-cultivable and 89 hect. is forest area.

Pehowa

Sub-division Pehowa has 111 revenue villages with 38 Patwar Circles and 3 Kanungo Circles. The total area of Pehowa sub-division is 60469 hect. in which 52550 hect. is cultivable and 7919 hect. is Non-cultivable and 1590 hect. is forest area.

Ladwa

Sub-division Ladwa has 98 revenue villages with 18 Patwar Circles and 1 Kanungo Circles. The total area of Pehowa sub-division is 27074 hect. in which 24360 hect. is cultivable and 2114 hect. is Non-cultivable and 45 hect. is forest area.
